More Than Makeup - Creating Confidence Through Human Connection

Some people simply have a calming energy around them.

The kind of people who instantly make you feel comfortable, understood and safe to be yourself.

That’s exactly how I’d describe Thabea.

As a bridal makeup artist, she specializes in timeless and personalized bridal looks - helping women feel confident and beautiful on one of the most emotional and meaningful days of their lives. But after spending time with her during our branding and bridal editorial shoot together, it became very clear to me that her work goes far beyond makeup itself.

For her, it’s about connection. About trust. About helping people feel seen.

And honestly? I think that’s exactly what makes her and her brand so special.

A Journey Built On Passion

Interestingly enough, the beauty industry wasn’t always the original plan.

After finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Business Law, Thabea found herself feeling burned out and creatively unfulfilled. Instead of ignoring that feeling, she decided to explore a completely different direction and enrolled in a professional makeup artist program.

What started as curiosity quickly became something much bigger.

“After completing the training, I discovered how much joy makeup artistry brings me - especially bridal makeup.”

Today, she continues building her business alongside her office career while slowly growing her presence within the beauty industry. And despite still being early in her journey, one thing becomes obvious very quickly when talking to her: She’s incredibly driven. Not in a loud way. Not in a performative way.

But in the quiet, consistent kind of way that often builds the strongest foundations.

Her parents played a huge role in shaping that mindset - especially her mother, who came from Mexico and built her own path within Switzerland through hard work and determination.

“They taught me that if you want to achieve something in life, you need to work hard for it.”

And I honestly think you can feel that mentality throughout everything she does.

Human Connection At The Center

One thing Thabea kept coming back to throughout her answers was people.

How she wants them to feel. How important human connection is to her. How deeply she cares about creating an experience where clients feel comfortable, valued and understood.

“My goal is to create an experience where clients feel understood, valued, and confident from the very first interaction.”

And maybe that’s exactly why her brand feels so authentic.

Because behind the aesthetics, the bridal looks and the beautiful visuals is someone who genuinely cares about the emotional experience she creates for others.

She describes herself as someone who naturally reads the room and understands people emotionally - something that also became incredibly visible during our shoot together.

There’s a softness to her.

A calmness.

A sensitivity.

And somehow the camera captured exactly that.

Visibility, Confidence & Stepping In Front Of The Camera

Like many entrepreneurs building a personal brand, visibility didn’t always come naturally to her.

Fear and imposter syndrome were some of the biggest challenges she mentioned while shaping her brand identity - something I think so many people quietly relate to.

“Building a brand is not a linear journey, and that’s something I’ve learned to accept.”

Before our shoot, she admitted feeling nervous and not fully comfortable in front of the camera. But throughout the day, something slowly shifted.

The pressure disappeared. The overthinking became quieter. And confidence slowly started taking over.

Stepping in front of the camera

One of my favourite things she shared afterwards was that she usually never smiles with her teeth in photos - yet some of those exact images ended up becoming her favourite ones from the shoot.

And honestly? I think that says everything.

Because branding photos are so rarely “just photos”. Sometimes they become proof of confidence. Of growth. Of finally allowing yourself to be visible.

“The photos had a huge impact on my confidence.”

And since the shoot, that confidence has also reflected within her brand presence online. She shared that the images helped elevate her Instagram presence, strengthen her brand visually and even directly led to new inquiries.

Dreams Bigger Than Fear

One thing I deeply admire about Thabea is that despite fear, despite overthinking and despite self-doubt sometimes still existing - she keeps going anyway.

This September, she’ll begin her Master’s degree in Management and Law while continuing to grow her makeup artistry business alongside it. And long term?

She dreams of growing internationally within the destination wedding industry while expanding her skills further into hairstyling.

Big dreams. But also the willingness to work for them.

- If your brand could speak for itself, what would it say about you? “It would say that I’m a hardworking person with big dreams - someone who continues showing up despite fear and challenges.”

Honestly? That answer alone probably describes her perfectly.

Final Thoughts

When I asked Thabea what advice she’d give to others building their own brand, her answer felt incredibly fitting for her entire journey:

“Keep going, keep dreaming, and trust the process.”

And I think that’s exactly what her story represents.

Not perfection. Not overnight success.

But growth. Consistency. Human connection.

And continuing to show up for your dreams - even when things feel uncertain sometimes.

And personally? I have a feeling this is only the very beginning for her.
